Hartwick (nee Craigie), June Ann
Jan 19, 1930 – Aug 26, 2021. June passed away in her home in Ottawa, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late William George Hartwick. Loving daughter of J.R. Graham and Helen Craigie, predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Helen and Douglas Wells. Adoring mother to Diana (Donald Fincham), Julia (Alex Celani), WillIam Jr. (Lori Hartwick) and Douglas (Meredith Gardner). Loving Nana and GG to Kristina (Matthew Rousso), Andrew, Stephanie (Michael Rodriguez), Ryan (Angie Fincham), Brittany (Bryan Costa), Spencer, Tyler, Gardner, Olivia, Chloe, Giovanni, Madison and Luca. She is survived by her sister-in-law (Sue Theil), brother-in-law (Robert Theil), children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her devoted service dog Della.
June was born in Detroit, Michigan and immigrated to Canada at age two. She married William George Hartwick in Montreal in 1955, they resided in Lachine, Quebec and raised their four children. The couple moved through business transfers to Etobicoke, Ontario and Beaconsfield, Quebec. They finally settled in Ottawa, Ontario in 1978. They celebrated 50 years of marriage and remained there for the duration of their lives.
June worked as an Administrative Assistant at Beaconsfield High School and the Carleton School Board. She served in many leadership roles including Girl Guide Captain and she was a pioneer in the field of rhythmic gymnastics through Kalev Estienne. She had a deep appreciation of music. She won first place in vocals at the Fifth Annual Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival. In 1956 she received a Certificate of Recognition in the International Stewardship of Life Awards Program of the Lutheran Laymen’s Movement. She was a longstanding member of the congregation and choir at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Her dedication to the St. Peter ‘s choir spanned over 70 years. June served as Choir Director in Lachine at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church at which Bill and June were founding members.
She was spirited, curious and a lifelong learner. She loved to travel, cook, read, and was a talented seamstress. She was a loyal friend and will be dearly missed by all.

June would be extremely pleased on the day of her memorial, if you would consider wearing bright, vibrant uplifting colors and/or patterns. Her favourite colors were red and green. A private funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11am. A livestream link will be available on our website just below the obituary for those who wish to attend virtually.
