It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, George (Andy) Dolan, who passed away suddenly on Aug. 23, at the age of 79 years. He will forever be remembered with love by his wife Josephine (nee Belcourt) of 56 years; daughters Mona and Julie (Richard MacDonald); grandsons, Kalen and Finn; brothers: Joseph, Bernard and Philip; sisters: Mary, Ann and Aileen, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Andy was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Bernadette (nee Doherty).
Andy was born in St. Paul, and raised in St. Brides, Alberta. He attended NAIT and graduated in 1970 with his Journeyman Power Lineman and Power Electrician licenses. On 21 August 1965, he married Josephine Belcourt at St. Brides, Alberta. They enjoyed 56 years together. Their first daughter, Mona, came along in June 1966 and Julie, their second child, arrived in February 1969. For over 55 years Andy enjoyed a career in powerline construction serving the communities of Alberta by establishing telephone lines/powerlines in rural areas of the province for residential and corporate clients. In his younger days he enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with his family. In more recently years he enjoyed relaxing at home with a good book. He loved his family very much and always had memorable stories to tell. His Irish humour will be greatly missed by all.
A Prayer Vigil will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 7508 – 29 Avenue NW, Edmonton on Wednesday, September 1 at 8 pm. A Funeral Mass with cremated remains present will be celebrated on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 am, also at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 7508 – 29 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
A private interment will take place at a later date.
