Obituary
Catherine Audrey Shearer
May 7, 1919 – August 15, 2021
Audrey peacefully passed away with the early morning rays of sunshine on her face on Aug. 15, 2021. She left her 102 years on earth knowing she was loved. Audrey (known as Bun to many) was born in Elva, Manitoba, the seventh child of James and Elizabeth Banks. She met the love of her life Russell Shearer at a hockey game after he had been injured on the ice. Love blossomed and they married on Aug. 17th, 1940. Settling in Treherne, Manitoba, they started a family. In 1956, they moved west settling in Port Alberni where Audrey worked at Woodward’s. There, Audrey and Russ were active members of the AV curling club, sharing their love of the sport with their four children. Retirement saw them move to Parksville enjoying many more years of curling, bridge, and family gatherings. With health challenges they moved to Nanaimo. Audrey spent her last years being lovingly cared for at Kiwanis Lodge. Predeceased by her loving husband Russ (2007), Audrey is survived by her children Penny (Roy) , Brad (Lyn), Sandy (Loretta), Tammy (Bob) and her sister Marie.
She was an adoring and inspirational Grandma Bun to Samantha (Ping), David (Rie), Jenna (Ben), Christopher, Hailey (Mike), Lindsay (Jarod), Jordan, Reid (Rachel) and Drew (Lisa).
She was G.G. Bun to her great grandchildren Julian, Jacob, Jayda, Miley, Hayden, and Julia.
Known as Auntie Bun she was also a favourite to many nieces and nephews. She was a character, full of sass and wit. We shall all miss her wisdom, her smile, and her laugh.
Memorial service to be held September 25th, at 2pm at St. Columba Presbyterian Church
(921 Wembley Road, Parksville, BC.)
