Obituary of Evelyn O’Neil (née Hardy)
After 91 years, Evelyn O’Neil (nee Hardy) predeceased by mother Ann Hardy and husband Allan O’Neil, leaves behind heavy hearts, most of all her daughter and son, Kim and Mark, three loving grandchildren, son in law Sesh and family in Toronto, Mark Hedger (and Pauline) in Victoria, and family in France, Germany and Spain.
Evelyn was beautiful and loved by all. Evelyn worked as a Chief Clerk at Bell Canada in Montreal and raised a family there. She took haute couture sewing lessons, modelled and was a lover of the jazz greats (Duke Ellington). In Ottawa, Evelyn was a fashion consultant at Holly’s and Laura Petites, as well as Assistant Manager at Brody’s Town & Country store at the Bayshore Mall. Evelyn had a wonderful sense of style and fashion and was an inspiration to many.
Evelyn loved life « I have found myself looking on each day as a gift, twenty-four hours of life for me to live. I can do anything I want with it. I can look at people when I talk with them. I can take the time to resurrect memories that make me smile. I can appreciate the surprises a day showers on you, things you never expected to happen. I cannot imagine wishing it would be over » – Erma Bombeck
