Anita Joy Batstone
January 23rd, 1937 – August 12, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anita Joy Batstone (nee Knight), announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home in Springdale, on August 12th, 2021 at the age of 84. Joy (as she was known to most) was a long standing member of the United Church of Canada.
She was predeceased by her parents Lemuel and Nellie Knight, brother Thomas, nephews Peter and David Kelley.
Left to remember with fond and loving memories is her husband of 64 years, Harold (most know him as Bond), her children Lorraine, Dean (Jocelyn), Neil (Bev), Anita (Christopher), Timothy (Lisa). Also left to mourn her 3 grandchildren Nicholas (Amy), Ashley (Megan), April (Tyson) and 6 great grandsons Jake, Oliver, Spencer, Charlie, Joshua and William as well as sisters Willow (Arthur), Shirley (Denzil), brother Howard (Eileen) and Aunt Winifred Strong.
Joy married the love of her life on January 23rd, 1957 and together they raised their 5 children. She was an avid reader and was an active member of the United Church in Jackson’s Cove. She was on numerous committees, including committees dealing with the Church and her community. Joy was also a business owner who enjoyed serving her community.
Rev. Barbara Noble will conduct the funeral service, with assistance from Major Gerald Lacey, at the United Church, Jackson’s Cove on Sunday, August 15th, 2021 at 2pm. Due to Covid please wear masks.
Interment will be held at the cemetery in Jackson’s Cove.
Pallbearers are Timothy Batstone, Nicholas Kelley, Amy Kelley, Morley Knight, Terry Kelley and Robert Knight.
The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Vista, Central Health and Central Funeral Home for all their support and care shown to Mom and her family.
Visitation at Central Funeral Home from 2 – 4 pm only, Saturday August 14th, 2021. Due to Covid please wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Association.
