Joseph Palchewich 2021

Joseph’s Obituary
Joseph Palchewich, beloved husband of the late Rosemarie Palchewich, passed away peacefully at the Preeceville Long Term Care Home on August 7, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
Joseph Samuel Palchewich was born in Canora, SK, on June 11, 1931, to Karl and Mary Palchewich of Rama, SK. He was one of 6 children in his family that attended Woodhurst School, close to his farm.
Early in his adulthood, he had the opportunity to work in the Sawmills in the pulp and paper town of Prince Rupert, BC, and did so for a short time. He enjoyed the mountains, and the experience of heading out on to the ocean. But the prairie calling was even stronger and returned him to the farm to continue farming initially with his father, and then on his own with a cattle and grain farm. He met Rosemarie (Tabin) Palchewich at a wedding dance when she returned home for a weekend from Winnipeg, MB, where she worked at the Royal Bank. This led to their eventual marriage on July 6, 1962. Joe and Rose lived on the family farm southeast of Rama, SK, until 1970, when they purchased a home in Invermay, SK. There they raised their three children, Kevin, Dwayne and Sheila. They continued to reside in Invermay for 45 years until 2015, when they sold their home and moved to Canora, SK. They lived in Canora until July 2019, before relocating to the Preeceville Long Term Care Home, where Rosemarie passed away later that year in December 2019 and Joe in August 2021.
Joe was a good father, and enjoyed visiting family and celebrating birthdays, holidays, and especially weddings. This was part of the reason he was in 5 or 6 wedding parties as a best man or groomsman. His laughter could be heard across the hall, and he loved to dance. He loved coming into the halls and tapping his feet to the Wedding March and having fun with the people around him. He also cared and worried about his kids, wanted to ensure they were always safe, and was very proud of what each had become and the families they raised. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Rosemarie, in December 2019; his parents, Karl and Mary Palchewich; siblings: Jean (Adolph) Sliva, Mina (Nick) Kowalchuk, and Vivian Pasloski; and his in-laws Joe and Mary Tabin, Adolph (Julie) Tabin, Louis (Helen) Tabin, John (Betty) Tabin and Florence Tabin.
Left in Joe’s memory are his three children: Kevin (Elizabeth) Palchewich, Dwayne (Colleen) Palchewich, and Sheila (Gerald) Swiderski; eight grandchildren: Meaghan (Corey) Hadubiak, Jessica (Kory), Erika (Lauren), Rylan (Alexis), Austin Swiderski, Hilary (CJ), Gavin Swiderski, and Tyler (Jada); his first great-grandchild – born 10 hours after his passing, Annessa Megan Hadubiak; his brothers, Ignace (Delores) Palchewich and Edward (Margaret) Palchewich; and brother-in-law, Leonard Pasloski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from near and far.
Joe will be missed, but after 588 days since Rosemarie’s passing, they will once again be together!
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021, from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Rama, SK, with Rev. Fr. Michal Pajak, OMI, as Celebrant. Cremation Committal will follow in St. Anthony’s R.C. Parish Cemetery, north of Rama, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Joseph Palchewich.
