Ahilleas « Alex » Nikolakakos
On August 1, 2021, after a long and courageous
battle with cancer, Ahilleas (Alex) Nikolakakos passed away
peacefully, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family at
University Hospital.
Born in 1942, in Xirokambi, Greece, son of his late parents
Dimitrios and Maria Nikolakakos, he emigrated to Canada in 1954.
From the age of 20, Alex owned several successful local
restaurants including the Knotty Pine, at Richmond and Fanshawe, with
his brother John and sister in law Helen.
Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (nee Burnett). Cherished
father of Maria, and her husband Jacob, and Dimitrios (Jim) and his
children Julia and Ahilleas (Alex) who adored their Papou. Alex is
survived by his devoted second wife Daniela Galis and her daughter
Andra. Dear brother of Heidi (Bill), Georgina (the late Sam), and
departed brothers George (the late Toula) and John (the late
Helen).
Alex was generous, kind, loving, and always stood up for the
underdog. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, by
his family, many nieces, nephews and friends.
We would like to thank the countless nurses, doctors, and
other medical professionals who provided care and support over the
last twelve years.
