It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Clemens, and will be missed by her children Alicia (Lambert Coulas) and Glenn. Joan was the last surviving member of her family, her parents Dominic and Mary Mintha and siblings Ken, Ron and Barb.
We would like to send a special THANK YOU to all the frontline staff at Champlain Gardens who cared for Mom during her final years. We would also like to Thank the Nursing Staff and Doctors at St. Francis Memorial Hospital and the Staff and Volunteers at the Madawaska Valley Hospice in Barry’s Bay. You are all an amazing group of people, and all of you deserve angel wings. We appreciate everything you did to ensure Mom was comfortable and well looked after.
At Mom’s request cremation has taken place. A private ceremony will be held by immediate family. In memory of Joan, Please consider a donation to the Huntington’s Society of Canada, This organization was especially important to Mom. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
She is finally at peace.
Mom has asked that we share this with you in her time of death:
What is Death?
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used to.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed.
At the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word.
That it always was.
Let it be spoken without affect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Mom will be forever missed in our hearts. We love you mom.
