Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Olive Heron announce her passing on July 29, 2021, at the Age of 92.
Olive was born near Mosside, Alberta on Christmas Day 1928. She was the 2nd daughter for Nichol and Lottie Miller.
Olive was raised on the farm until the family moved to Barhead where she attended school. After Graduation, Olive moved to Edmonton to work at Muttart Building Supplies as an office clerk and switchboard operator. It was there she met her husband Gordon Heron.
Olive and Gordon were married October 7, 1955, and soon after were joined by their 3 children. Olive was kept busy shuttling kids to many events as well as sewing, baking, and knitting. She enjoyed summers spent at the lake and getting to know people. During the winter she was an active curler, enjoyed riding the snowmobiles, watching the boys play hockey and going to the Oiler games.
Olive and Gordon were very active in the Al Shamal Shrine and travelled many places in Canada and the US with the Motor Corps. They enjoyed travelling to the remote destinations of Australia and Fiji. They volunteered a great deal of time with Edmonton Northlands and the Shrine Circus.
Olive was an active member in the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary donating many homemade knitted articles to their annual bazaar fund raiser. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile.
Olive was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren always excited to see each new addition to the family.
Olive was never one to take over the spotlight and enjoyed cheering on from the sidelines.
Respecting her wishes there will be no funeral service. Please take time to remember her and share happy memories.
Olive will always be remembered by her children, Frances (Ronald) Beniuk, David Heron and Gordon (Jeanette) Heron; grandchildren Jocelyn (Jason) Beniuk-Elkins, Corey Beniuk, James (Katie) Heron and
Olivia Heron; great grandsons, Braun Elkins, George Heron. Brother and Sister-in-Law Larry and Doreen Heron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Olive was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Heron; grandson Shannon Beniuk; parents Lottie and Nichol Miller; and sister Mildred Rounding.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Al Shamal Shriner’s Hospitals would be appreciated.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Olive Heron 2021..
