Paul Charles Delaney of Calgary, AB passed away at Agape Manor, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 72 years.
Beloved husband of Rosemary (Tobin) in their 49th year of marriage; devoted father of Patrick (Corrine), Brendan, and their precious dog, Chanel; cherished brother-in-law to Marilyn, Maureen (Bruce) & Teresa (Boyd); loving uncle to Ryan, Liam & Gillian; brother Dennis; and close friends Chan & Dianne. Born in St. Stephen, NB and raised in Montreal, QC, Paul was predeceased by his parents, Charles & Pauline Delaney, brother Tim, & nephew Kieran.
An alumni of Loyola College, Paul spent his entire career at CP Rail, successfully serving in various positions, including Director of Human Resources. Organized, pragmatic, meticulous & steadfast, Paul was a loyal colleague and friend. He was a born leader, whether it be in the boardroom, on the golf course, tennis court, etc., unassuming and helpful to everyone.
Since his retirement in 2005, Paul & Rosie enjoyed a snowbird’s life, residing in both Calgary, AB & Mesa, AZ. A multitude of family/friends/neighbors mourn his passing and will cherish poignant memories of their time with him. Paul was an inspiration to all who knew him. He embraced every moment in life, always choosing hope & optimism over fear. A gift to us all, Paul shall forever be our champion, our ‘go-to’ guy.
A private family graveside service will be held at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank his wonderful team at Tom Baker Cancer Centre, especially Dr. N. Alimohamed & F. Singleton, along with Dr. Larissa & the caring staff at Agape Manor Hospice. A special thanks goes to many friends in the US and Canada, particularly at Mesa Regal Tennis Club, and Paul’s closest golf buddies both in Mesa & at Country Hills Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bladder Cancer Canada or Agape Manor Hospice, Calgary, AB.
