WRIGHT Hannah December 4 1918 – July 13 2021

WRIGHT, Hannah
December 4, 1918 – July 13, 2021
It is with loving gratitude that we say goodbye to Hannah Wright, mother extraordinaire to Lynne Marshall and Ron Wright (Eva), sweet, sweet grandmother to Tracy Neff (Michael), Todd Liesemer (Dawn) and Nadine Schorn, and loving presence to her great grandchildren, Elissa, Nolan and Sierra Neff, Austin Nobles, Hunter and Carson Liesemer. She was also a wonderous aunt and somewhat of a second Mom to Donna Thorsen (Ron) . Hannah was born in Stockport, England in 1918 on December 4th and immigrated to Canada in 1921. She was raised in Calgary and eventually met Mr. Wright, also known as Alan, the love of her life who she married and adventured with for 56 years.
Hannah was the epitome of sweetness. She loved her family dearly, had many friends and enjoyed and appreciated the moments of her life. And in her long beautiful life, there were many moments. There were moments spent planting and tending to her vegetable and flower garden, moments of traveling that took place every Spring when Alan yelled out, “Hannah, it’s time to pack the motorhome and get going.” The adventuring would begin, often to Reno, Nevada, sometimes Mexico and always summers at Sandy Point (Shuswap lake) meeting up with friends and family, for another summer of boating and beaching and connecting. There were many moments of laughter, often with her sisters in those early days, late into the night playing games and socializing (husbands not allowed), with family, on those long drives to Banff for Sunday picnics that often involved laughing fits and hanging pants to dry. Hannah had a wonderful sense of humour even up to the end of her days she made us laugh and smile, even when she forgot everything, her smile still reigned. There were many moments of knitting and crocheting blankets for those in need, baby clothes for the great-grandchildren, even the barbie dolls got clothes. Hannah loved to dance and sing and to listen to music. She could be found dancing in her living-room with the volume of her favorite CD turned up high. “I’m a bit of a goofball that way,” she said to her grand-daughter who caught her in the act one day. “You’re not a goofball, Grandma. You’re an inspiration!“ her grand-daughter replied, dancing too. And then there were many moments of reading, often the auto-biographies of movie stars and tea drinking, so many good cups of tea! She claimed never to have been bored, ever, and this is because she lived the moments of her life fully.
Hannah lived the big happy moments and the sad difficult ones too but her brilliance really shone in the in-between moments, the space between the big moments, the moments of everyday ordinary life. She was a master of the in-between moments, at peace and in love with whatever was happening and she showed us all how to be settled within ourselves, be at peace with the moments of our lives and love others always, no matter what. She emanated the preciousness of life, her own and everyone else’s, including the spiders and the ants. She was a living example of unconditional love.
Her precious presence in our lives will be missed but thankfully it was contagious, and she passed it on to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others she connected with throughout her lifetime. Each of us now, in our way, carry her beautiful loving presence forward and spread joy, laughter and love as we move through the big moments and the in-between moments of our lives.
The great circle of life continues…so grab a tea and love on.
