Obituary of Shirley Elaine Vance
VANCE – Shirley Elaine of London, Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 peacefully in her 71st year. Loved mother of Jeff and his wife Cynthia Stirling of St. Thomas and Jamey and his wife Erin Stirling of St. Thomas; step-mother to Michelle Jones of Delhi and Tracy Dedecker and her husband Leon of St. Thomas; grandmother of Cameron, Jayla and Matthew and step grandmother of Ashley, late Jesse, Brady and Madeline; sisters Carley Lahaise of Vancouver, Norma and her husband Keith Phillips of St. Thomas and Jim and his wife Debbie Vance of St. Thomas; sibling in law Ann Vance of St. Thomas, Linda Newman of St. Thomas and Sheila Vance of Edmonton. Shirley is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Floyd Vance, Don Vance, Ken Vance and Murray Vance. Shirley was born in St. Thomas on September 4, 1950, the daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret Elaine (Denham) Vance. She worked at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital until retirement. Shirley enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and being with family. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A private interment of ashes will be in the Union cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
