Assunta (D’Antico) Venuta passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on January 9th. Cherished wife to Nicola (d. 2017), mother of Rosa (Raja), Frank (Franca), Tina (John) grandmother to Adam (Clara), Anthony, Alessya, Daniela, Theo and Julius and great-grandmother to Stella. She was also a beloved sister to Filomena (d. 2003), Francesca, Anna, Michael and Vito and also beloved aunt to many.
Like her parents, Rosina and Gerardo, Assunta will be remembered for her love of family. She possessed a gentle spirit, incredible generosity, kindness and had abundant energy. Her marriage to Nicola was a true partnership which always put the needs of others first. Together they met many challenges during their years together as new immigrants to Montreal, where they first met and eventually established a family. In their later years they faced the ultimate test of their devotion for each other as Assunta coped with dementia. As Nonna, Assunta would do anything for her grandchildren and her entire world would come alive whenever they would visit. We are indebted to Mom’s second family at Manoir Beaconsfield (Sabrina, Andrew, Brenda, Donna and all staff) for the love, respect and incredible care they provided her during the last three years. We are also very grateful for the support they have given her family, the MB family will always be a part of us.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday January 15, 2021 for immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
