July 07, 1938 – July 02, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Stanley Samuel Sidjak announce the passing of the most kind and gentle man, with his family at his side, just five days shy of his 83rd birthday, on July 2, 2021.
Stanley was one of a kind, with his witty sense of humor, and his enduring positive outlook on life, no matter what obstacles he faced. He frequently said, “There is always someone out there, who is worse off than you”.
He was born in Coronation, Alberta in 1938. He began his University of Alberta Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in accounting, at the young age of 17. As quoted from Stanley at his 80th birthday celebration speech, his life included many highlights such as being an awesome father and grandfather, shooting a 59 with a 17 handicap as a member of the Derrick Golf & Winter Club, passing his C.A. exam in 1961, becoming a partner of Deloittes in 1973, until retiring at the young age of 51 in 1989. Stanley’s passion for golf kept him very busy in retirement. He was very fortunate to be a Palm Dessert “snowbird” for 18 years.
He was predeceased in by his first wife of 23 years Mary, his biological father Samuel, his father Tom, and his mother Caroline.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years Yvonne; his daughters, Kathryn (Ken), and Marcia (Jacek); his grandchildren, Megan (Mackenzie), Olivia (Austin), Amanda, Carmen, Gabriel, and Jordan; Yvonne’s adult children, Fred (Hilda), Brenda, and Bruce (Alondra and Luis); brothers, Alex (Nancy) and Ray (Pat), their families; plus, numerous other family members and friends.
The family is very grateful for the compassion and care Stanley received from all of the doctors and nursing staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital during his brief stay.
It was Stanley’s wishes not to have a formal funeral. Please join us for a light lunch and refreshments as we celebrate Stanley with an open house style reception on July 09, 2021, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, at Connelly-McKinley Edmonton South Chapel, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton, Alberta.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, or the Cross Cancer Institute.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Stanley Samuel Sidjak 2021..
