Obituary for Dr. Jane Elizabeth Zondervan
May 18, 1948 – July 3, 2021
Jane Zondervan passed away peacefully in Toronto on July 3, at the age of 73.
Jane was born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Gilbert and Agnes Graves. She grew up in Indian Head and Grenfell, SK, spending summers at the family cabin at Crooked Lake. After graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan, she and her husband Eric Zondervan moved to Toronto to begin their careers. Jane was highly regarded for her expertise in orthopedic surgery. She later shifted careers to become immersed in their building supply business and cherished time spent at their cottage at Bass Lake.
Jane was well known for her love and devotion to family. She shared her love of horses with others and spent her life protecting and helping animals. Jane was also known for her unwavering determination, kindness, sense of humour, and infectious laugh.
Family members mourning her loss are husband Eric, son Ian (Monica), daughter Noelle, sisters Carmen Foley, Lynne Reeve (Terry), brother Roy Graves (Kathleen), sister-in-law Phyllis Johnston (Lew) and their families.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (an animal charity in Kenya) and The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada.
