With heartfelt sadness, our family announces the passing of Richard George Bedard (Dick) on July 4, 2021 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 86th year.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Tillie Bedard (nee Gander). He was the son of the late Victor and Marion Bedard of Ridgetown, On. Dick was a loving and devoted father to Michael and Alexandra Bedard of Brighton, On, and Paul and Karen Bedard of Kemptville, On. He was a cherished and proud ‘Pa’ to Colin, Justin, Matthew and Emily. He will be deeply missed by his sister-in-law Priscella McMullen, nieces Sarah McMullen, Barbara Beatty and husband David, as well as nieces and nephews originally of Ridgetown, On.
After retiring from the Bank of Montreal, some of Dick’s greatest joys was spending more time with his grandchildren. His passion for nature and wildlife was most evident during his yearly trips with family to Florida. Dick was the most contented sitting at the front of the boat, fishing along the Montreal River. While living in Strathroy, he and Tillie would spend many hours sitting on the swing in the backyard enjoying all of the birds. He was a social butterfly with all of the neighbours. You could hear him calling to them from down the street. During his time at the retirement residence, he found such joy sitting on his balcony looking at the spectacular view of the Provincial Park and going for drives in the Campbellford area.
The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the Island Park Retirement Residence and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their exceptional support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association. A private memorial will be held for the immediate family at a later date.
