SCHWEISFURTH, Helmut
Helmut passed away peacefully at his home at Queensview Retirement Community in Paris on Monday, June 21st 2021. He was 91 years old. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ilse (1930-2011). Much-loved father to Michele (Martin Cox) and Mark (Monica Hiradhar). Affectionate brother-in-law to Joan Dudszus (predeceased by Fred) and uncle to Erica Dudszus (Jonas Olenski) and their children Elsa and Wren.
Helmut was born January 8th 1930 in Köln, Germany and moved to Brantford with Ilse after they were married. He took up work at Scarfe’s, which eventually became Inmont and finally BASF. As the company grew so did his responsibilities, and he made many close friendships through his work. He helped manage youth hockey teams at the Burford Arena and was active in the Lions Club of Burford. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a great story- and joke-teller and dancer. He and his jokes will be missed by many. Donations made in Helmut’s memory to the Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation are appreciated. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a small private family service will be held at TOLL FUNERAL HOME but his family hopes to have a more open celebration of his life when travel and larger gatherings are possible.
