Pierre Seguin 2021

“That man is a success who leaves the world better than he found it; who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
”Dr. Pierre Vincent Séguin, 74, of Sudbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on May 15th, 1947, to Marie-Claire and Léopold Séguin in the small town of Field. In 1968, he wed his childhood love Pauline Labrosse, with whom he had two daughters and 53 years of devoted companionship.
After Pierre graduated from Laurentian University in 1973, he pursued a degree in dentistry at l’Université de Montréal.
After graduation, he worked in dentistry for 40 years – retiring in 2017. Pierre was a beloved, caring and passionate dentist, and loved what he did. Not a day went by at work where you wouldn’t hear Pierre laughing out loud about something. Somehow there was always enough time for a joke or a kind gesture toward a patient of staff member. While retired, Pierre had time to pursue his love of fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and loved ones. Pierre was very much involved with the local community and gave wholeheartedly of himself to many organizations such as the Richelieu Club, Ruffed Grouse Society and Pheasants Forever as well as his church to name a few. His volunteerism also included service to organized dentistry at the local and provincial levels.
An avid outdoorsman, Pierre was always happiest while being surrounded by nature. His love for hunting and fishing brought forth many entertaining tales over the years, for his friends, family and even his patients. Club Gros Daim, his hunt camp on Manitoulin Island, is where he spent many weeks every fall enjoying his favourite pastime. His love for fishing brought him to his favorite fishing hole in Belle Terre several times a year. The trips were as much about spending time with his friends and family as it was about getting the big one. Unlike the typical fisherman, he was more than happy to share his favorite hunting or fishing spot with anyone who shared his passion and that included the bounties of his most recent successful hunt.
Pierre was predeceased by parents Léopold and Marie-Claire; Siblings Lise, Claude, Gilles and Ginette. He is survived by his spouse, Pauline Séguin; his daughters, Ginette Séguin (Robert), Claire Smith (David), his grandsons, Carter and Jake, his brother, Robert Séguin, his sister Michelle Séguin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Given the pandemic there will be no visitation. There will be a private mass for immediate family. A service in celebration of Pierre’s life shall take place at a later time.
Many thanks to all at CCAC as well as the amazing doctors, nurses and PSWs at both the cancer center and Maison MuCulloch Hospice. Your compassionate care was both heart warming and comforting throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Maison MuCulloch Hospice. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
