Listen
It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Hilda Marion Glendenning, wife of the late Sterne Glendenning of Canobie which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Thursday June 10th at the age of 100.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
Mom was born in New Bandon and was the daughter of the late Lestock and Lottie (Ellis) Jagoe.
She was member of the Upper Gloucester District Women’s Institute for 70 years, a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the Royal Canadian Legion Herman J. Good Branch #18 of Bathurst, the Central United Church and the U.C.W.
She had a long and interesting life. She travelled Europe and the United States several times. She was an excellent gardener, cook, knitter, seamstress and quilter. She managed to pass along her wisdom to one and all. She much enjoyed a card game of which her laughter could heard above all. She loved each and every one of us and will be missed.
She is survived by her children: Arlene Melanson (Terry) of Canobie, Delcie Carey (Cecil) of Big River, Roy Glendenning (Myra) of Peace River, Alberta and Dawn Scott (Stafford) of Canobie.
Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sisters-in-law: Fern Scott, Eva Jagoe both of Canobie and Inez Jagoe of New Bandon, Margaret Peters of Bathurst.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Rupert, Eldon, Hazen, Ira, Carl, Ethan, Leigh and Donald; and a sister Esther Borden.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Mom may be made to a favorite charity.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
“Goodbye my family my life has passed.
I love you all to the very last.
Weep not for me, but courage take
For those you love don’t go away
Thy walk beside everyday.”
