Mary Bassett (née Mitchell)

Peacefully, at Place Kensington, Westmount.
Beloved wife of Robert Thomas Bassett and Mother of Christina, Keltie, Karen and Robert (Sue). Loving Grandmother to her Grandchildren Jasmine, Edouard and Gabriel (Shaar) and Elizabeth and Steven (Bassett).
Born in Toronto, Mary’s family moved to Montreal when she was an infant. She was the daughter of Frank and Edith Mitchell. She is predeceased by her brother Herbert (Joan); and her sisters Barbara (Norm); and Ruth (David).
After Grade School at St. Georges, she attended Westmount High School. After finishing High School, she was a student at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. Her path then took her to McGill University, where she graduated with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. After graduation, she taught at Northmount High School for two years. Mary returned to teaching at Westmount High School soon after out youngest child was eleven.
Since a young girl, summers were spent with her family at Lake Memphremagog, where we all enjoyed a wonderful experience.
In her retirement years, Mary and Bob had eleven wonderful trips with the Senior Tour group.
As a devoted and caring wife and mother, she leaves a rich legacy of being a kind and generous person.
Mary celebrated a rich and full life before the onset of Alzheimer’s.
Our special thanks to the nursing staff and attendants at Place Kensington for their care and support.
