Obituary For Dwight Marcel Bessette
September 28, 1957 – May 15, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dwight Marcel Bessette. The family and friends are shocked and saddened by this recent loss. There are no words to describe the terrible misfortune we share, and the huge place he left open in our hearts.
Dwight was born on September 28, 1957 in Kipling, Saskatchewan son of Adrien and Aline. He passed away on May 15, 2021 in Edmonton, Alberta.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Dwight will be sadly missed by wife Helen, sons Sean (Kayla and grandson Brock), Tyler (Samantha) sister Gisele (Rob) brother Kelly (Deb) nephew Justin & niece Taylor (Adam & great niece Maeven). His drinking buddy Tigg. Dwight also had many dear friends which will always be remembered in loving stories of his life’s adventures.
Dwight grew up living and working on his family farm in Saskatchewan. After high school he took up carpentry and later started a framing business in Brandon, Manitoba. After the birth of his first son he moved to Grande Prairie where he continued his framing business and quickly added a second son to his family. Dwight later met his life partner Helen who he shared countless years and adventures with. Many happy memories were shared with their blended families.
Dwight loved the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter, camper, athlete, lover of heavy metal and above all, a story teller. He will forever be remembered for his passion for sports (specifically the Roughriders, the Steelers and the Red Sox) his movie one liners, his endless supply of Brava, his summer tan, his outfit choices, his need for speed believing he was a Nascar driver and above all his love for his family.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff members of Grande Prairie Hospital as well as the university of Edmonton Hospital who gave outstanding care & compassion and support prior to and at the time of his passing.
The family will celebrate his life privately at a celebration of life in Saskatchewan at his family farm at a later date. As well as will be hosting a local celebration of life at later time.
A Viewing for Dwight will take place today, May 21, from 5-8pm and on Saturday May 22, from 1-6 pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home. Please call for a time to attend at 780 830 7742.
