Obituary
With heavy hearts, the family of Roy J. Lemieux announces his passing at the age of 81 with his loving family by his side. He shared the love of dancing, for more than 60 years with his loving wife Estelle (McTague), devoted father to Sharon Mason (Cecil), June Israel (Joey), Donna-Lee Kirkpatrick (Brad) and Donald (Amonda). Proud Papa to Russell, Catlin, Kyle, Brody, Kayshia and Baylee. Uncle to Carole Therrien, as well as a dear friend to Art Cannon.
He was a man of many trades and never considered himself too old to learn new things. He spent most of his years enjoying the open road; transporting goods throughout Canada and the USA. He often shared a coffee, or a Coke and memories with anyone he met. Above all things, his passion for the Gaspe Coast, country living, animals, the great outdoors and a good ‘ole game of crib, well surpassed his love of story telling.
Born in Gaspe, QC on November 17, 1939, eldest son to Elise and Jean-d’Arc Lemieux. As the last living member of his immediate family, he will finally be reunited with his siblings, Rosalie, Pearl and Myles. Special thanks to Dr. Bone, Dr. Hall, Dr. O’Brien, Dr. Douglas, Nurses and Staff of 4C North for their compassion during the past several months. Barry Short, we cannot thank you enough for taking a moment every now and again to play a game (or two) of crib with Dad during those long difficult days. He was grateful you took the time to drop by.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4347 Loch Lomond Road on Monday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m. Due to limited seating, those wishing to attend the funeral must call the funeral home (646-2424) to RSVP. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Donations can be made in memory of Dad at the New Brunswick Kidney Foundation, the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or SPCA.
