Donald James Thomas Dewar
The family of Donald James
Thomas Dewar of Canterbury Hall, Riverview and formerly of Tide Head,
NB is saddened to announce his passing on January 7, 2021. Death
occurred at The Moncton Hospital after a brief
illness.
Tom was born in Campbellton,
NB in 1930 the son of the late Daniel and Marguerita (Sullivan)
Dewar.
Left to mourn are his bride of
67 years Patricia (nee Felix), children Stephen Dewar (Jill) of
Ottawa, Nancy Flanagan (Bryant) of Moncton, Carol Fanjoy (step
daughter Allison) of Moncton and Tim Dewar (Marjorie) of Ottawa. Tom
was the proud and loving grandfather of Sarah (Rob) and Shane (Andrea)
of Ottawa and Eric (Johanna) and Amy (Gerald) of Moncton. Much joy was
added to his life by his great grandchildren, Colin, Fiona and Keiran
Cummings of Ottawa, Allison and Shannon Dewar of Ottawa, Sam and Ava
Flanagan of Moncton and Thomas and Lexi Burke of Moncton. Tom is
survived by his sister Betty McAvera of Arizona, sisters-in-law and
many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by brothers Dave, Roland
(Butch), Ken and Billy, sisters Viola Smith and Shirley Thompson and
son-in-law John Fanjoy.
Tom was employed for many
years as a dairyman for Grays Velvet Ice Cream and retired from NBLCC
where he was employed as a manager. Tom also served with the Militia
of the North Shore Regiment for 27 years rising to the rank of Chief
Warrant Officer and holding the position of Regimental Sergeant Major.
Tom was a long time member of Knox Presbyterian Church and served as
an elder.
Tom had a lifelong love of fishing and many hours
were spent along the Restigouche river. Retirement years were also
filled with fly fishing, gardening and wood turning. He and Pat
enjoyed their home and life in their community, volunteering with
Meals on Wheels, Tide Head Seniors and fellowship with the Campbellton
and Dalhousie christian community, where he left a piece of his heart
when he moved. Tom loved people was a good friend to many. His life
was an example of how to be a wonderful loving husband, father and
grandfather.
Due to current COVID-19
restrictions, a private family funeral service will be held. Fergusons
Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of
arrangements. Interment will take place at the Campbellton Rural
Cemetery in the spring.

The family would like to thank
the doctors and staff of the Moncton Hospital and the staff of
Parkland Royal Court and Canterbury Hall for their kind and
compassionate care.
