Thomas Patrick Shields Friday May 7th 2021

Tom passed peacefully on Friday May 7th 2021. He will be remembered by his loved and loving family, including his wife of 67 years Sheila (Neville), two daughters Mary Jane Shields and Maggie Shields Corden.
He will also be missed by two grandchildren, Thomas Corden and Katie Chesbro (Collin) and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Gibson and Lawson Chesbro.
Tom is survived by one brother, Brian of Victoria, B.C. and is predeceased by his sister Helen Hensler of New Jersey. He was the son of Timothy (Tommy) Shields and Jean (Newton).
Tom spent 25 years in the Military and then another 12 years at the House of Commons. In retirement he spent many happy hours at the Orpheus Society and Ottawa Little Theatre designing and helping to build beautiful sets.
There are many people who have helped us along this journey, including the Knights of Columbus and the Friday Night Dinner Group. Many thanks also to Veteran’s Affairs Canada. Their support was greatly appreciated.
A special thank you must go to all the staff at Bridlewood Retirement Residence, they treated him like he was their own father. He loved you all.
Funeral service at Holy Cross Church on Saturday May 22nd at 11:00 am. The service will be live-streamed – holycrossparish.com, click on the link.
In memory of Tom, donations would be appreciated at the Ottawa Mission and Harvest House.
