Born September 28, 1928 in Wojowodztwo, Tarnopol, (Kopeczynce) village Czabarowka, (penninsula) Husiatyn (then) Poland (now Ukraine) and died peacefully surrounded by love in his 93rd year on May 10, 2021 in Amherstburg, ON. Ed survived a concentration camp in Siberia during Stalin regime. When the former WW2 allies of Germany & Russia turned into enemies, all Polish Siberian concentration camp victims were granted amnesty by Russia. The Polish POW’s resisted joining Russia on the fronts & instead joined the British Army & were sent to the Middle East (through Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, & Egypt). Edward was too young to be in the army & was enrolled in an Army Cadet Technical School in Egypt where he earned his high school diploma. The technical school transferred him to Palestine where he earned his machinist papers. After the war, Edward immigrated to England, then made his way to Welland. He met and married Helena Teresa (nee Kozlowska) on June 16, 1956. They built their lifelong home in Dain City raising their 4 children.
Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife Helena (Nov. 2, 2001). Kohany tato of Heniu (Dain City, ON), Stas & Anna (Perkins, QC), Basia & Peter Lojewski (Amherstburg, ON), Ania Jesionka & Gerald Hayward (Fonthill, ON). Proud dziadzio of Kyle, Asher (Asha Kaye) Esther (Aaron), Gracie (Abe), Jonathan, Ezra (Katayoun), Ceile (Keith), Nathan (Zoe), Ben & Sam Lojewski, Kane & Dexter Jesionka Hoad. Loving great dziadzio of Juniper, Ivy, Chloe and Greyson (due in June).
Ed’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Windsor/Es, St. Elizabeth Health Care nurses, especially Nurses Nora, Ta and Meghan who cared for Ed and his family with dignity and respect.
