Obituary of Lotte Johanna Hofmann
On the morning of January 3, 2021, Lotte passed away gently at the Sault Area Hospital. In 2016, she was predeceased by her husband, Werner Hofmann, after fifty-eight years of marriage. Lotte was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1935 and came to Canada in 1958 where she then became a Canadian Citizen.
She is lovingly held in the memory of her four children, Iris Shields (George), Irene Alexander (Ruben), Peter Hofmann, and Roland Hofmann (Debbie). Oma will be missed by twelve grandchildren, Jenna Shields (Kelly), Deanna Shields (Bongers), Wyatt Shields, John shields, Vaughn Alexander, Devin Alexander, Karen Alexander, Kristin Alexander, Kaitlin Alexander, Brandon Hofmann, Sarah Hofmann, Ella Hofmann, and three great grandchildren Gaius Kelly, Ronan Kelly, and Avery Bongers. Lotte will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and Germany.
She kept the family culture alive and worked hard on the land. Lotte had great respect for the little things in life. It is with sadness and joy that the family releases her to the universal oneness. We will always remember her and continue to love her. Lotte’s favorite phrase in the last two years was “Wunderbar”. The family will celebrate her life at a later date. If you wish to give a memorial donation, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sault Ste. Marie. Thank you. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
