PAUL, Cornelis “Neil”
It is with great sadness that we, his family, released Neil to his heavenly home on April 30th, 2021. He enjoyed almost 54 years of marriage with his love Matie Paul and will be greatly missed by his daughters and their families, Catherine & Niklas with grandchildren Ruby and Emily of Sweden and Rachel & Troy with grandchildren Ryker and Emma of Palm Beach, Florida. He also leaves behind his brothers and their wives, Leonard & Janet and Dick & Margie, and was predeceased by his sister Hilda & her husband John. Born in Holland on November 28th, 1940 his life began in the midst of WW2. After the war, he and his family immigrated to Canada where he spent his youth on a farm in Wainfleet, Ontario. Neil enjoyed his teaching career at Cayuga Secondary and McKinnon Secondary in Caledonia where he inspired many students to reach for their dreams. He was also the coach of the MPSS soccer team even though he knew little of the game! He dearly loved his students. His enthusiasm, punny sense of humour, and zest for life was appreciated by anyone who knew his special soul. He was always ready to share his Christian faith and had a post retirement hobby of preaching in the small churches of Haldimand County and to the “ladies in their eighties” at The Meadows in Ancaster. A memorial service will be held at a later date when restrictions have been lifted to allow all of us to pay tribute to this amazing man, husband, father, Opa, brother, and friend.
