Obituary
Yvette Alvina Brauch (nee Vitaps) joined her loving husband Dean on Saturday, December 26th in her 81st year, at Oakwood Park Lodge with family at her side, as a result of Covid and Covid outbreak complications. Loving and devoted mother to Steven, Karen and Jennifer, and a much loved Oma/Gramma to her grandchildren Emilija, Brendan, Gibson, Nicole, Shelby, River and Cruz. Fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by many family, friends and neighbours. Born in Latvia, she came here at a young age, moving to Gravenhurst to start her life here in Canada. Despite not being able to speak or understand the English language, she started school and overcame that obstacle and many other challenges life presented her and went on to succeed in many things. She enjoyed watching figure skating with her friends and family and attended many events, making many friends along the way, even sewing a costume for Elvis Stojko. A figure skating quilt she made is proudly now a part of the Skate Canada Museum. She enjoyed cottage life, nature and spending time with her grandchildren. Yvette had many passions and talents and among them enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, quilting and crafting. She loved teaching quilting classes and she always looked forward to her monthly guild meetings with the ladies. She had a natural creative side and could make almost anything and make it look easy. A generous and kind woman who opened her heart and home to everyone and gave so much, she touched many lives during her time here. She was never short on giving love or help to others, she selflessly put others ahead of her. Her smile, laughter and generous nature will always be remembered. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. S. J. Dawood who provided not only top notch care in her final years, but did so with great kindness and compassion. Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Oakwood Park Lodge who were involved with her care. As per her wishes she will be cremated, with a Celebration of Life gathering to be held, when possible, in 2021. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude for the love and support shown during this time and for the assistance while we quarantine.
