1952-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Yofonoff. He was taken from us far too soon. Bill was born in Nelson, BC on February 29th, 1952.
Bill was raised in New Denver, BC and settled in Castlegar, BC. Bill passed away April 22, 2020 at Talarico Place in Castlegar, BC. Bill touched many peoples lives with his wit, kindness and heart of gold. He was predeceased by his mother Mable, his father Peter and grandson Kale Hurd. He is survived by his partner of 30 years Penny Hurd, his children: daughter Diana (Shaun) Mercer, sons Will (Christina) and Steven (Adele) Yofonoff, stepchildren Tami (Rob Whittle) Hurd, Kelly (Michelle) Hurd, 3 brothers Peter (Marg), Walter (Arlene) and Lawrence Yofonoff and sister Diane (Dwight) Waring. Bill is also survived by 9 grandchildren Casey Yofonoff, Kai, Evelyn Yofonoff, Madison Mercer, Teighan (Daves Lafontant) Hurd, Jordan (Shelby) Hurd, Daryl, Dylan and Makayla Hurd, 9 great grandchildren Sara, Jonathan, and Kinzley Hurd, Ariel, Davion and Kamiyah Hurd Lafontant and Blaine Hurd, Cebastian Hurd and Ausker McGivern, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill loved to make people laugh, drive fast, listen to loud music, pick huckleberries and most of all he loved to hunt and fish. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
We would like to thank the staff at Talarico Place who treated Bill as one of their own and Dr. Vasil and Dr. Merritt for their kindness and compassion.
Cremation has already taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Talarico Place to enhance the Recreation program through the Castlegar Health Centre Foundation.
