William A. Irving
William A. Irving, 85, of
Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday,
December 2, 2020.
Born in Sheffield Mills, NS,
he was the son of the late Allister and Harriet (Spinney)
Irving.
Bill was retired with 14
years’ service from the Canadian Armed Forces (Army), having
served in Germany, Cyprus and various parts of Canada. He was a former
heavy equipment operator, shop steward and safety officer with
Transport Canada retiring with 21 years’ service. Bill was a
member of the Moncton Wesleyan Church, the Moncton Wesleyan Seniors
Group, a former leader in the Stockade Battalion and Bus Ministries
and member of Moncton Legion Branch No. 6. In past years, he enjoyed
fishing, darts at the Moncton Flying Club, walking and time spent with
family and friends.
Bill will be sadly missed by
his wife of over 64 years, Shirley (Machum) Irving; children,
Katherine Lewis (Barry) of Riverview and Douglas (Jennifer) of
Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Joe Lewis, Tanya Rogers (Michael),
Jaxon, Alexis and Alexander Irving; great grandchildren, Ethen,
Summer, Peyton and Dylan; sisters, Elaine Burton of Truro, NS and
Verna George (Bob) of Digby, NS, as well as several nieces, nephews
and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he
was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Velma, Lydia, Ruth, Allister
Jr. and John.
