SERHAL, Wajdi Elias, November 29, 1949 – December 19, 2020
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wajdi Elias Serhal, 71. He went peacefully at his home in Guelph, Ontario, with his family by his side.
Wajdi was born in Zouk Micheal, Lebanon, on November 29, 1949, to parents, Elias Serhal and Rosa Karam. Wajdi adored his country but seeking refuge from a civil war decided to immigrate to Canada in 1971. Once settled he arranged for his siblings to join him.
Wajdi had many passions. He was adventurous, a world traveller, an excellent painter, wonderful cook and was very athletic. He loved humour and could fill a room with infectious laughter. In a new country, Wajdi taught himself English and earned a degree in Computer Science at the University of Ottawa where he met his first wife and mother of his four daughters, Aline. He had an impressive career that started in Canada and took him all over the world including Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Lebanon and across the United States where he later met his second wife Cassie.
Wajdi was a beloved husband to Cassie, a proud and loving father to his four daughters; Caroline (Ryan), Eva (Matt), Emily (Simon) and Madeleine (Kieran) and his stepson Aaron (Barbara) and a wonderful grandfather to Noland, Jacob and Patrick. He is predeceased by his dear brothers Jihad and Kamal (Joan) and his parents Elias and Rosa. He is further survived by his siblings Ahlam (Mounir (deceased)), Wafa (Khaled), Samia (Pierre), Sassine and Ghada (Louis); as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He meant so much to many of us and he will be missed.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Cure PSP Research Foundation and Toronto General Hospital, Research. Donation information can be found at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
