Obituary of Vern Park
It is with great sorrow we announce that Vern Robert Park, resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, passed away peacefully in his home on November 16, 2020 at the age of 75 years.
Vern was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on September 26, 1945 to Herb and Louise Park. He was the oldest of 5 siblings. Vern grew up in the Selkirk, Manitoba area where he met and married Meredith (Gowen) Park, his loving wife of 57 years, in 1963. They had 2 children, Rob Park and Melanie (Park) Esau and moved to British Columbia in 1971.
Vern had a long career in the trucking industry and was a well-respected operator. He later switched careers to the passion of his youth, horse logging and draft horse pulling competitions. Vern was an avid horse lover and spent many years in the draft horse pulling competitions in the area including the Dawson Creek Fall Fair and Exhibition.
Vern was Predecease by his loving wife Meredith (Gowen) Park; his parents Herb and Louise Park; sisters Bev (Park) Deslaurier, Roberta Park and brothers Gary Park and Barry Park.
Vern is fondly remembered by his daughter Melanie (Arlie) Esau; his son, Rob (Clare) Park; grandchildren Jessica (Esau) Jaklich, Nicki Esau, Amy (Stephan) Brittell, Jennifer and Kailey Park; great grandchildren, Aida and Griffin Jakich, Selah, Micaiah and Shepherd Brittell; brother Noel Park; sisters Wendy and Debbie Park as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
