Obituary
FABBRO, Tony
Tony Fabbro, beloved husband and father, passed away from COVID-19 at Royal University Hospital on the evening of Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 86. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Corienne (nee Altrogge), son Mark (Elaine), brother-in-law Leo Altrogge, and sisters-in-law Florence and Margaret Altrogge, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his parents Frank and Anna, brother Primo (Caterina), and many in-laws on the Altrogge side of the family.
Born in Saskatoon, Tony grew up in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and completed his grade 12 at Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. After graduation, Tony worked for Lou Churchill at Great West Furniture as a salesman until forming a partnership with his brother to found Fabbro Brother’s Tile and Terrazzo. He then went back into sales, working for Wallace Construction Specialties until the late 1980’s when he retired.
Tony was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and dedicated to his church and faith. He spent much of his retirement volunteering with the Knights, Prairieland Exhibition/Park and various community and charitable organizations. For many years on weekends, he could be found at the Saskatchewan Railway Museum giving rides on the model train that he built. Tony was interested in and passionate about all things Saskatoon and Saskatchewan.
Special thanks to the staff at Oliver Lodge, St. Paul’s, City, and Royal University Hospitals for the loving care that Dad received and the compassion that they showed to the family. Special thanks also to Dr. Cyprian Enweani and the Lenore Center Medical Clinic staff for their care in the past thirty years. Sincere thanks also to our family, friends, and neighbours for their continued support.
A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of Tony’s life will occur in 2021 when it is safe for family and friends to gather. A notice will be posted in the newspaper at that time. Arrangements in care of Mourning Glory Funeral Services.
