Tiann Miller
August 6, 1959 – December 21, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tiann Miller who left this earth in her 61st year, after losing her four-and half-year battle with cancer at Health Sciences North.
We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nursing staff who cared for her over the years, including her devoted cousin Christina D’Aoust and family.
Tiann was a loving daughter to Milton (predeceased) and Yvette Miller, sister to Allen (Laura) and Karin (Kerry). Loving mother to her devoted children Nicholas (Lisa), David (Christina), Danielle (Matt), and Céleste (Matthew), and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren Linkoln, Kyra, Kayleigh, Keyannah, and Peter.
Tiann had a successful business in Southern Ontario for many years as a piano teacher, as well as working at Whitby Psych, before returning to Sudbury 30 years ago. Here she had a rewarding and challenging career as a Youth Social Worker at Northern Youth Services until her early retirement.
Tiann was a wonderful musician who played the piano, flute, and picallo passionately. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and was an avid reader who proudly boasted a home library of over 5,000 books. Family dinners, birthdays, and holiday meals were her specialty and the times that she held most dear.
Special thanks are extended to all of her close friends who visited her these past four-and a half-years and in the last weeks of her life.
A Celebration of Life in Tiann’s honour will take place during mass on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at Holy Redeemer at 10am. Light refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Genevra House Shelter of Sudbury, a cause that was very near and dear to her heart.
Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home. Please visit www.lougheed.org and share a memory.
