Thomas Isaac Murray
MacNaughton – 92, Truro, passed away
Sunday evening, July 26, 2020. Born in Sheet Harbour, he was a son of
the late Murray and Dorothy (MacKenzie) MacNaughton.
After completing
high school, Thomas attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He then
worked on the family farm in Beaver Brook and Beech Hill Farms before
taking on a job with Brookfield Creamery. His career changed
directions in 1967 when he joined Truro Fire Department as a
driver/operator and, as well, also worked with Stan Hanes Moving and
Storage during this time. Thomas was also a long-time Truro Volunteer
Fire Brigade member.
His many years of
Sports League Executive involvement played a big part in his life as
he served either as President or an executive member with Truro
Commercial Softball League, Colchester Ladies Softball League, Truro
Commercial Men’s Bowling, The Commercial Hockey League and
Truro District Hockey League and umpired for many years with Fundy
Region Umpires’ Association. Thomas was an avid Toronto
Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan.
He enjoyed going to
the camp in Beaver Brook with Ross and buddies, morning coffee with
George and calls from his many friends.
Thomas is survived
by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Brown); children, Lynn MacNaughton,
Dartmouth; Kevin (Patricia) MacNaughton, Bible Hill, and their
children Thomas (Chloe), Joshua (Hailey), Isaac (Shyenne); Beth
(Darrell) Hingley, Bible Hill, and their children Justin (Rebecca);
Sarah (Mitch); great granddaughter, Aubrey Hingley; brother, Harold
MacNaughton, Niagara Falls, Ontario; several nieces, nephews, cousins
and many great friends. Along with his parents, Thomas was predeceased
by his sisters, Audrey (Gordon) MacNutt, Brantford, Ontario; Betty
Robinson, Bible Hill; Kathryn in infancy.
Special thanks are
extended to the VON and to our family, friends and neighbours for
their support.
Firefighter’s Tribute Service and
Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020, at
Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible Hill, Reverend Valerie
Kingsbury officiating. Due to Covid-19 and Public Health requirements,
a maximum of 250 people will be permitted to attend and masks are
required. Please bring your own chair, practice physical distancing
and register with one of the funeral directors upon arrival.
Additional parking is available at Bible Hill Junior High School. A
video of the Firefighter’s Tribute Service and Graveside
Service will be available at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2020; please

a time more convenient to you.

United Church are welcomed.
