Baie-Sainte-Anne – It is with very heavy hearts and appreciation for a long life with us, that we announce the death of papa Stanley Miousse, baptised Stanisclas in memory of an uncle, on Wednesday January 22nd, 2020 at Foyer Assomption in Rogersville at the age of 93. Born in Eel River Bridge, Baie-Ste-Anne, on November 16th, 1927, he was the son of pepere Edouard Miousse, of french descent, and of memere Sarah McIntyre, of Scottish descent.
Papa is survived by maman Edna Daigle-Morais, his wife of 67 years, three daughters; Astrid of Rogersville, Rachelle (Ian) of Fredericton and Anne (Louis) of St-Paul; two sons: Euclide (Julia) of Baie-Ste-Anne and Ernest (Catherine) of Lakeburn; eight grandchildren: Michael, Brendan and Sarah (children of Rachelle), Alice and Neil (Catherine) (children of Euclide), Justin (son of Ernest), Mathieu and Mario (Isabelle) (children of Anne); seven great grandchildren: Zoé and Zeph (children of Alice and Vincent), Samuel (son of Sarah and Henri), Caitlin and Brooke (children of Brendan and Christina), Osias and Oscar (children of Mathieu and Britney), Lydia (fille de Michel et Melissa), Thomas (son of Neil and Catherine) as well as many close nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
Besides his parents, papa is predeceased by three sons: Joseph (at birth, for whom he build a coffin and buried himself), Onil (11 days) and Rejean (27 years old, who had been unconscious for 15 years after a car accident); one daughter, Paulette (6 months old who died the same day as papa’s beloved mother and a three year old niece); four brothers: Eddy, Ernest, Philip, and Roger; three nephews and two nieces.
Papa was a laborer, who started working at the age of 14 years old, therefore, throughout his life he has occupied many jobs, among them, being a fisherman, a fish plant worker, a woodsman, a cook in camps, a potato picker, a road builder, a construction worker, a driller, a milkman, and his last jobs being a sanitary engineer better known as a dump keeper. Papa worked in the provinces of Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova-Scotia, New-Brunwick and in the state of Maine. We are forever grateful to all those who hired papa and those who gave papa drives, as papa did not always have a car to go to work, where he had to hitchhike to make it to Miramichi or Escuminac.
Papa’s most enjoyable job was being a dump keeper. He worked hard at keeping his dumps very clean, collecting things and enjoyed the company of visitors. Dump keeper, being a very good government job, helped us, his children, pursue our post-secondary studies either at university or at college.
Papa’s pride and joy was his children, bragging about our accomplishments and giving the credit to maman who he said was a very smart woman.
Papa might have quit school in the last quarter of his second time in grade eight, but we, his children, have all graduated from U de Pa with a Ph degree in dependability, responsibility, resourcefulness, respect, patience, courage, discipline, tenacity, loyalty, humility, commitment, forgiveness, but most of all, mercy for the sick.
Papa was known for his dry sense of humour and his unexpected one-liners. He dit not mean to be funny, it just came out. Some friends would come to visit, as spending time in his company would make them feel good, he would be a very strong dose of serotonin. Thank you to all those who laughed with papa.
Papa was, for each of us, his children, our BFF… BEST FRIEND for EVER and he will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at salon ‘La Colombe’, 11325, hwy 126, Rogersville, on Friday January 24th, at 2pm. The funerals will be celebrated in St-François-de-Sales RC Church in Rogersville on Saturday January 25th, at 11am.
Visitations hour: Friday January 24th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, and on Friday January 25th from 9:30pm until the departure for the funerals.
As one might wish, as expression of sympathy, a donation can be made to the Parish of Baie-Sainte-Anne or to the foyer Assomption in Rogersville for the palliative care.
