Stanley J. W. Kopp
August 25, 1941 – December 12, 2020
With profound and irrevocable sadness we announce the passing of Stan at the age of 79, with his family by his side at St. Boniface Hospital.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 57 years and the love of his life, Evelyn; his four children, Darryl (Holly), Kevin, Melanie (Gary), Kurtis (Marie); and his eight grandchildren, Landon, Lexie, Schaelyce, Teighlyn, Jzraelyne, Makenna, Bianka, and Annaka. Predeceased by his mother Yvonne and father Stanley.
Born in Pine Falls, MB, he grew up in the Kenora, ON area and spent many summers at his Grandparents home in Rennie, MB, with his beloved Grandma Bernice and her chickens. Later in life, he settled in Winnipeg, where he met his one true love, Peanut, at the Snack Bar and he said that he knew from day one that she was it for him. His last words were that he would love her til the end of time!!
He provided a wonderful life for his family working as a Conductor for the CNR for 36 years. After a well deserved retirement he spent his time on golf courses, cheering on his grandchildren, puttering in his garage, creating painting masterpieces, going for breakfasts with his Lorette golf friends, and spending time with his wife and dog Rocky!
The teller of jokes, the giver of nicknames, the keeper of secrets leaves a beautiful legacy. His laughter will remain in every memory of all who knew him.
Thank you to the medical staff on 6A West, the ICU and Dr. Mulchey (aka Dr Fauci) at St. Boniface Hospital for every little kindness, we are truly grateful.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be done once restrictions are removed.
