Sheila Ann (Purcell) Burke
1957-2020
Sheila Ann (Purcell) Burke, 63, passed away
peacefully with her husband Stephen by her side at home on October 2,
2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sheila was born in
Musquodoboit Harbour and grew up in West Chezzetcook. She is the
daughter of Mary (Yeomans) and the late Robert Purcell. She graduated
from Eastern High School and attended Dartmouth Vocational School
(NSCC) in the secretarial program. Sheila was employed with Harris
& Roome (Graybar Canada) Electrical Supplies Ltd. for 28
years. After retiring she worked another five years at Guys
Frenchy’s, Coldbrook. Sheila enjoyed going to River
Bourgeois, Cape Breton with Stephen, visiting with her and
Stephen’s family and friends, reading Lesley Crewe books,
shopping at Frenchy’s and feeding the birds. She also
enjoyed doing the weekly Lexicon in the Chronicle Herald. Sheila was a
kind and generous person, always remembering birthdays and special
events with cards and presents. She loved treating her nieces and
friends with great Frenchy’s finds as well. Sheila
participated in annual Cancer Walks raising funds for this very worthy
cause. Sheila will be sadly missed by her husband Stephen; sisters,
Joan (Doug) Forbes, Mary (Greg) Everest, Nancy (Roger) Pidgeon;
brother, Jim Purcell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annette (Glen)
Sampson, Brian (Cheryll) Burke, Glenn (Brenda) Burke, Arleen (Dave)
Green, Austin Burke, Wayne (Denise) Burke, Lee Burke, Barry (Jenny)
Burke, Nicole (Scott) LeBlanc; mother-in-law, Annie (Cyril) Landry.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and close
friends including Debbie, Ann Burke, Anne Landry, Pat, Ruth, Twila and
Betty. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral mass will be held
on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, 43 Belcher Street,
Kentville. An on-line webcast of the service
will be available at 8:00 p.m. Laying of
ashes to take place at a later date at St. John the Baptist Church
Cemetery, River Bourgeois. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian
Cancer Society or to Corpus Christi Parish. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
