Obituary
Sharon Huse (nee Snideman) was born on March 13, 1946 in Calgary to William and Adina Snideman.
Sharon went to school in Cluny and high school in Red Deer. Sharon was the oldest of four children: brothers Dan and Dick and sister Lil. After high school, Sharon started at the Michener Center in Red Deer where she learned to make a ‘proper bed.’ Sharon met her husband Jim in January of 1966, while he was working at the Chrysler plant in Red Deer. They had a whirlwind courtship and married three months later on March 26, 1966. They then travelled to Windsor, Ontario where Jim was employed with Eastern Construction working on another Chrysler plant assembly line building. They then returned to the Huse family farm in Alliance where they were able to adopt two boys: Brent and Clint. In 1972 they picked up and moved to Ponoka where Jim and Sharon opened a photography studio together. Sharon worked alongside Jim for many years before starting a job at Northcott Care Centre as a nursing aid. Sharon then moved to HH Roberts Implements where she worked alongside her good friend Shirley Gill. She then obtained a position at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka and was eventually transferred to Red Deer. After a few close misses on Highway 2 during her commute, Jim strongly encouraged her to find other employment which she did joining the Galloway Oilfield team and this is where she ended her working career, and left with lifelong friends, especially Carna Phalempin.
During her time in Ponoka she volunteered her time as a founding member of the Ponoka Lioness Club, taught Sunday school at a church east of Ponoka, and was actively involved in helping a local 4H club as Jim was the leader. She was the Zone 2 coordinator for the high school rodeo raffles, volunteered with the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary in the gift shop and always helped with the stampede cattle raffle ticket sales every summer along with her friend Ski Thompson.
Sharon will be lovingly remembered as kind, caring, loyal, and for her selflessness. She will also be remembered for her immaculate house and yard. Sharon never passed up an opportunity to help friends and family. She dearly loved her family and had a special relationship with each and every grandchild. She was their first best friend, and you would find her right down on the floor playing, whether is be farm, horses, barbies, coloring, or making the best tea. She did it all. She loved watching Taylor compete at rodeo’s, Hudson playing hockey, Peyton at gymnastics or dance, and spent at least one day a week spending time with Tenessy. She loved camping with her family at the yearly reunion every September and with her sister Lil (Brad) and brother Dick (Brenda) at the Stettler campground. She always looked forward to her weekly card nights with friends.
Sharon was predeceased by her son Brent (1976); her parents Bill (1981) and Adina (1997); brother Dan (2005); and Jim’s parents Arne (1976) and Etta (2008).
Sharon is survived by her husband Jim; son Clint and his wife Kelly; granddaughter Taylor and her husband Tel; grandson Hudson; granddaughters Peyton and Tenessy; Taylor’s sisters Sam and Kennedy; and a host of friends from the rodeo community.
