Ed was a keen gardener. His early roots as a farm boy in Southwestern Ontario remained strong. Prior to moving to a retirement community in 2016, he enjoyed sharing the beauty of his gardens with family and friends. Ed appreciated nature in all of its forms. He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed walking in the woods. He loved to share a glass of wine (or two!) with friends and family and was an avid sports fan – baseball, football, golf, and especially hockey.
Ed enjoyed a career as a retail store manager. After retirement he was an active volunteer with the Kiwanis Club of Middle, University Hospital and Victoria Hospital.
Ed enjoyed life and was an extremely joyful man, even at the end of his life when he faced many health challenges. His love of life and volunteerism were felt by many throughout his life. His church affiliation was particularly important to him. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had been a member of the choir, assisted with communion and collected offerings.
Ed was fortunate to have good health into his 90’s. Toward the end of his life he was blessed that many caring people were involved with his care. In particular, his family would like to thank the following: Dr. Mario Elia and his team at Lambeth London Family Health Clinic, the staff at Inspirit Residences, and the staff, physicians and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice London.
Those wishing to make a donation to honour Ed’s memory are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Trinity Lutheran Church in London or the charity of your choice.
