She is now joined again with her beloved husband, Floyd and will also be meeting her two grandbabies and five great-grandbabies that passed on before her.
Sara was born on November 20, 1937, in Consort, AB., to Tobias and Sybil Larson. She was the sixth of seven children. Sara’s mother passed away when she was 13 years old and she went to live with an aunt and uncle; Claire and Carma Scott, from Hinton, AB. She took her CNA in Calgary and graduated in 1958 as a Certified Nurses Aid. In 1959, she married Floyd and moved to the Elsasser homestead in Acadia Valley where she raised their three children. Sara led a very active life and belonged to the Acadia Valley Community Club, PTA and Seniors Club. Floyd and Sara enjoyed many camping trips together, square dancing, bowling and especially playing cards. Floyd passed away in 2001 and Sara moved to Medicine Hat in 2007, then into the Cypress View Lodge in 2012. She volunteered her time at the Tuck Shop, was president of the Resident Club and organized card games during the week. Sara continued to be very active and enjoyed coffee with her friends, going on great bus tours, playing Bocci and playing cards. In the last few months leading up to her passing, Sara was residing at the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her dear friends: Fay, Irene, Lorraine and Lucy.
Sara’s family wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Cypress View Lodge for the many years of love and care she received while she was a resident. They also wish to extend their sincere appreciation to the Good Sam’s staff which include the RN’s, LPN’s, Health Care Workers and kitchen staff. They displayed such grace and kindness towards her wellbeing by attending to her every need and keeping her comfortable during the last few months of her life.
A Graveside Celebration of Sara’s life will be held at a future date in Acadia Valley with further announcements at that time. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Sara’s name may be made to the Medicine Hat Pregnancy and Family Support Centre, 321 – 6 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S6.
