Obituary
Passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2020 surrounded by her loving husband, John, at the age of 78. Beloved wife and best friend of 57 years to John. Loving and devoted mother to Andrew (Emily) and cherished Oma to Trinity; all of Scotland. Adored sister to Elke and Ute and their families. Predeceased by brother Heiner and surviving wife Ginny and family; all of Germany. Dear sister in-law to RoseMary, Diane, Shirley Ann and Milan. Rose was an inspirational woman who persevered through war, escaped oppression through a fence, and endured immeasurable upheaval with courage, strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity. She fearlessly broke barriers and faced challenges head-on: emigrating half a world away to a new country; the first woman to be a volunteer firefighter in the Northwest Territories; undertaking unfamiliar jobs and rising to management in every instance. Her life is the story of a woman determined to fight and give her all for those she loved, protecting them from the pain she endured. At Rose’ request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519) 253-7234. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Rose, memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses (4520 Rhodes Dr., Suite 400, Windsor, Ontario N8W-5C2) or to a Charity of your choice.
