Roger’s Obituary
Reid, Roger Kenneth – 66, Sherbrooke, NS passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax from a recent illness. Born in Springhill, NS on Sept. 15, 1953, he was a son of the late Carmen and Grace (Casey) Reid. Roger grew up in Little River, Cumberland County and attended Oxford Regional High School. He worked in various parts of the province for over forty-seven years with the Province of Nova Scotia in transportation related roles; 1973 to 1992 with Dept. of Highways Provincial Field Outfits; 1992-1998 Registry of Motor Vehicles and 1998 to 2020 with Vehicle Compliance. Roger was primarily an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling. However he often impressed family and friends with his culinary skills, especially in family cook-offs by using his secret ingredient! Roger had a quiet demeanor, a great sense of humor and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him well. He is survived by sisters, Karen, Truro; Wendy, Halifax; and nieces and nephews, Trina (Leif) Langille, Matthew (Ashley) Reid, Travis (Megan) Reid, Barret (Stephanie) Reid and Brittany (Danny) McAloney; as well as several great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas. Arrangements are under the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Oxford (902-447-2930). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Birch Grove Cemetery Fund. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
