Robert Richardson
June 2, 1936 – April 2, 2020
Robert Richardson – known affectionately as “Mister Bob” to his friends – passed away suddenly on the evening of April 2, 2020 while in Ridge Meadows Hospital.
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 2, 1936 to parents Jack and Phoebe Richardson. One of six siblings, Bob moved with his family to British Columbia and lived in various parts of the province over the years. He attended school in West Vancouver and Princeton, and went to work for Firestone in Prince George. It was there he met his bride-to-be Rose, marrying her in 1962. The young couple welcomed their first child the next year, and a few short years later were transferred initially to Vancouver and then Vancouver Island. In 1970 Bob settled with his family in Haney, opening O.K. Tire Brake and Wheel at the corner of Dewdney Trunk and 228th. After selling the store in the early 1990s Bob kept busy with other business interests until his retirement. Golf was a great passion of his, and he was a long time member of the Pitt Meadows Golf Club. Despite his decades spent playing the game whenever asked about how well he did on a given day his response usually alternated between “awful” and “the worst”. This never hindered his enjoyment of the sport, and he always looked forward to the time spent with his friends at the club. Bob also proudly volunteered his time to his Strata for a great many years, serving as Strata President for much of that. He believed in being a good neighbour, and even when his health was in decline he still worked tirelessly to help make his little community a better place for those who live there. He enjoyed keeping busy and learning new things, with an interest in computers as well as cooking developing late in life. The story of our lives run an undetermined duration; that Bob’s lasted almost 84 years was something he himself was impressed with. Bob is predeceased by his parents and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Rose, children Teri and Rob, his brother Bill, and sisters Barbara, Yvonne, and Glenda. He wished to be cremated, and due to the current health crisis no services are planned at this time. His family thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital for caring for him during his last days. While he shall be greatly missed have faith that somewhere in the cosmos Mister Bob is on the green, among friends, and playing a perfect game.
