John Richard (Ricky) Dove

We regret to announce the passing of Ricky Dove, age 55, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at home.
Born in Sydney Mines on June 21, 1964, he was the youngest child of John R. (Dicky) and Catherine (Kay) (MacPherson) Dove. Ricky was a father, brother, grandfather, but more of a friend.
Ricky is survived by his daughter Kaitlyn (Shawn Whitty), Bedford, son Tyler, Florence, step-daughter Ashley Matthews, and grandson Carter Forrest. Also left to mourn are his sisters Laurena (Melvin MacIntyre), Brenda Dove, and Romaine (Blair MacDonald), his brother Alec (Bonnie), Trenton, and the mother of his children Lorraine Matthews.
Besides his parents, Ricky was predeceased by his sisters Kathleen Power and Mary Dove.
He had been employed at Dexter Construction until his illness. Ricky liked a good time, and a good laugh. He leaves behind many friends, especially Gary Fitzgerald, Brian Eveleigh, Paul Gracie, Robin Donato and Kokie MacLean.
Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors on Monday, February 10, from 1-3 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will take place Monday at 3 pm in the funeral home. A reception will take place at the Sydney Mines Pensioner’s Club after the service.
