Richard Keilty 19372020

Richard Keilty
1937-2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Richard Keilty of Woodstock N.B. on December 1, 2020 at Carleton
Manor. Richard was born in Scott Siding, N.B on July 27, 1937. He was
the son of the late John and Agnes Keilty.
Richard will be missed dearly by his wife of 61 years
Patricia Keilty (Donovan), as well as his children Carolyn
Keilty-Cormier (Terry), Dick (Sally), Fred (Susan), Anne Ketch
(Jerry), Joe (Jennifer), brother Jack Keilty (Barb), sister Maxine
McGrattan (Paul), sister Diana Allen, 13 grandchildren: Christen,
Lindsey, Stuart, Mitchell, Molly, Emily, Amy, Alexander, Connor, Abby,
Jessica, Julia, Eden; and six great-grandchildren: Jacob, Isaac,
Grace, Rose, Theo and Austin.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by twin siblings
who passed away before their first birthday, brother Stewart, brother
Michael and sister Theresa.
Many will remember Richard for his work ethic and
intelligence. He grew up on a farm in Scott Siding and shared many
stories over the years of his busy and happy childhood taking care of
the animals and working hard with his family. Richard enjoyed a
39-year career at Karnes Bakery in Woodstock. Even after retirement,
he continued to get up early every morning and work hard on various
projects. To quote his family, « if anyone needed anything
done, they’d call Richard. »
Richard was known as Grampie to his 13 grandchildren. From
teaching them to ride the old blue lawn tractor at the house in
Richmond Corner, to building them a Go-Kart, to attending many
graduations and weddings, Grampie was there for all the special
moments.
Later in life, when Richard could be persuaded to take a
vacation, he and Patricia enjoyed travelling together, including trips
to Alaska, Las Vegas, and winter bus trips to Florida.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Carleton
Manor for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer
Society of Canada.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will be a small, private
service.
