ALLAN, GORDON GEORGE of Woodstock passed away at the Brantford Hospital on January 27, 2020 in his 91st year. Born in Verdun, Quebec, on December 5, 1929 to George Alexander Allan and Hazel Hannah Chapman.
Graduate of McMaster. Beloved former pastor of Heron Park Baptist (Scarborough), Madison Avenue Baptist (Montreal), First Baptist (Woodstock), Grace Baptist (Windsor), First Baptist (Simcoe), First Baptist (Brampton) First Baptist (Ottawa), Burtch Baptist, and Springford Baptist. Student pastor at Olivet Baptist (Sutton, Quebec). Preacher at the Old Brewery Mission (Montreal). Evangelist in Cornwall.
Married in 1955 to beloved wife Jean Ethel Adelaine (nee Crichton). Father of Lois (Scott) Emmel of Ardoch, Philip (Laureen) of Ottawa and Andrew (Rahel) of Woodstock. Grandfather of Alexandra Allan and Lydia Allan. Survived by sister Barbara Hungate, late Stewart (Montreal). Predeceased by brother David Allan (Toronto, 2002). Brother-in-law to Howard Crichton, and late Vi (Waubaushene). Uncle to Sandra Hungate (Richard), David (Betty) Crichton and Carolyn (Ken) Jamieson.
He was an avid “Habs” fan and loved classical, big band and jazz music, astronomy, chess, war history, baseball, basketball, and tennis, the sight and sounds of ocean waves, and spent many family vacations by the beaches of Maine.
He loved people, and people loved him. He will be missed.
The family will receive friends at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N.,
Woodstock on Thursday, January 30, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday January 31 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church Woodstock.
