It is with profound heartbreak, the family of Philip Clarke announce his passing on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Hospice Huntsville at the age of 79.
The past two years at home, with the loving care of his family, he battled vascular dementia.
Philip was born in Sudbury on June 29, 1941 to parents Peter and Elsie Clarke. However, he lived in and loved Utterson for 73 years.
He met his adoring wife and life partner Sherida on a blind date (thank you, Doris). They were married November 28, 1970.
He was the cherished and loving father of sons, Paul and Dean. Dear and loving father-in-law of Erin. Philip leaves behind his brother, Stephen of Barrie. He will be greatly missed by both his dear sister-in-law Heather Brooks and her partner Cecil Meadus, along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. His cousins Jim and Dan McKenzie were like brothers to him, as well as special friend Det Schumacher. He also has a special place in his heart for our friend Harold Titus.
Philip worked for the MNR (Land and Forests) in fire prevention and suppression for 27 years. He loved his job, especially meeting with, talking to people and being in the outdoors. For the next 27 years Philip and Sherida operated Port Sydney-Utterson Sand and Gravel. We were a great team.
We are so ever grateful for our work family, Mark and Chad Huggins. Our son, Dean devoted 19 years working alongside his dad. We were blessed.
Philip loved his family, friends and listening to other people’s life stories. He was always willing to help others. He was a relentless worker, a prankster, a playful big kid. His wonderful laugh will always echo in our ears and hearts. Camping with us and hunting with friends were dear to him. Philip cared about people, nature and our precious dogs.
We had to let him go but we will love him forever. He was a good person.
The family will always be grateful and remember the compassion and care of Dr. Harrold and the hospice team towards Philip and ourselves. He will be cremated and interred at Stephenson Cemetery, Port Sydney.
