Obituary of Paul Gilbert
Gilbert, Paul Angus
50 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Erie Shores Hospice. Beloved husband of Talmadge (Reid). Loving and devoted father of Ella and Cora. Cherished son of Lorraine and Angus Gilbert. Dear brother of Loriann Gilbert Wilder, Stephen Gilbert (Tanis Clarkson). Special uncle of Briana Wilder, and Emily and Sara Gilbert. Special son-in-law of Tom Reid (Diane), Bob Dawdy (Gail), and the late Deborah Reid (McKibbin). Adored brother-in-law of Joselyn Reid (Brian) and their family Kyle and Thomas. Paul loved the outdoors. He would spend his time moose hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, trail riding on his ATV, camping and canoeing, as well as camping at the cottage with jet skis and kayaks. But you can guarantee most weekends and evenings, Paul was helping friends with their car maintenance as he was a highly skilled journeyman mechanic. Paul was involved in the scouting movement and became an assistant leader alongside his father then continued as a leader in St Johns, Newfoundland. After Paul and Talmadge married, Paul used his volunteering and leadership experience to donate his time to the Wheatley Optimist Club and the Windsor Christian Fellowship (WCF). His volunteering responsibilities at the WCF included the information centre, media, as well as the baptism Ministry alongside his wife Talmadge. Paul has endured many health trials. Well Paul, it is finished. Rest peacefully with much love. Cremation has taken place. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell St., Leamington (519-326-2631) Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Windsor Christian Fellowship, 4490 Seventh Concession Rd, Windsor, on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11 am.
