It is difficult to summarize a life lived, especially one lived with as much strength, joy, and determination as Paula’s. Our strong, brave, beautiful mother, Paula Elizabeth Thomson, finished her journey, surrounded by her family, on Friday March 6th. She spent two weeks in hospice, following a change in her cancer diagnosis. It was not the news we had hoped for, but Paula met the challenge as she and her late husband Jim met every challenge, with strength, perseverance, and a wicked sense of humour.
Her contagious enthusiasm, energy, and wonderful spirit will be missed by all, but especially by her children, Bonnie and John and their partners Josh and Robin, her nephew Brett and niece Rachel, and her cousins, Helen, Lisa, Valia and Rick, and their families, along with her beautiful extended family, both born and created.
She also leaves a hole in the fantastic community of dancers, sewers, garlic enthusiasts and gardeners, choir members, lacers, neighbours and friends who made up her eclectic and exciting circle.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this time, and throughout Paula and Jim’s lives. There are too many to name here, but know that you are in the hearts of our family.
In her memory, donations can be made to the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, who provided the most amazing care to her and our entire family at the end of her life, and to whom we are very grateful. We also encourage individual celebrations; we know we will honour and celebrate her life, and the life of our father, who passed away last spring, in everything we do, always: tell a story, plant a tree, and dance like everyone is watching.
We have had the great privilege of being the children of our parents.
